Rancho Park Online's Top Ten List 2012

As 2012 comes to a close, it seems a good time to reflect on the past year here at Rancho Park Online. So as we usher in 2013 and look forward to covering all that is news and noteworthy in our cozy corner of West LA , here is a look back at the topics that made the biggest impressions in 2012. Feel free to add any thoughts about stories you think were missed or what you think Rancho Parkers will be most concerned with and excited for in 2013.

  1. Expo Line: It is no surprise to see that news about the light rail tops our list. Look for more updates here as construction - and legal battles - continue this year.
  2. Fourth of July: It is great to see that people depend on Rancho Park Online as an area Independence Day guide. Hope to see you all at the park again this year.
  3. Art Zone on Pico: Your kids get to bring their artwork home while you  leave the mess behind. What's not to love!
  4. Barnes and Noble closes and Urban Home opens: This big change to the Westside Pavillion was big news here.
  5. Motor Ave. Farmers Market: This new neighborhood market made shopping for local produce even easier.
  6. VIP visits to Rancho Park - Obama and Oprah: Celebrity sightings brought  traffic to our streets -  and our site.
  7. Rancho Park Summer Camps: This older post endures as people look for local options for summer vacation
  8. Rancho Park Restaurant News: With oldies like the Apple Pan and so many new places on Pico, readers are eating up posts about Rancho Park food. Tell us where you'll be dining in 2013.
  9. Plane crashes in neighborhood: A sad story that could have been worse when a plane crashed on Glendon Ave.
  10. Pick Pico: This community-building weekend event encouraging people to support Pico Blvd. businesses was a top destination both online and off.
