Rancho Park Reminder - Pick Pico is This Weekend. Support Our Local Businesses

The first-ever Pick Pico, the Westside Neighborhood Council-sponsored initiative to support Rancho Park retailers, is this weekend. Pico Blvd. businesses from Beverly Glen to the 405 are offering discounts and perks to patrons from June 1 - 3. You can take advantage of offers from ABS Club teeth whitening to Zen Bakery muffins and just about everything in between.

"We have great shops on Pico that local residents may take for granted and people who don't live here may not know about," said WNC Boardmember Lisa Moracco, who is the chairperson for Pick Pico. "We hope this is the first of many Pick Pico weekends that help people appreciate what this neighborhood has to offer."

  • A formal kick off ceremony and ribbon cutting is at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 2 on the corner of Pico and Pelham. Over 75 Westwood Charter students will be there as the Pico Pushbroom Patrol to clean and sweep up Pico. Free reusable Pick Pico bags willbe distributed to those who attend.
  • If you are spotted with your bag patronizing Pico on Saturday or Sunday June 2 or 3, the Pico Prize Patrol may stop you and hand you a $50 Gift Certificate to a local Pico business.
  • A list of all of the specials offered may be found at Pico merchants such as FOOD, Islands, or Heyler Realty. Look for the bright orange Pick Pico Walking Maps with the Specials Insert inside!

"We are encouraging people to go to the places they love and also try somewhere they've never been before," said Morocco.

Great idea. What are your favorite Pico picks? Where will you be going for the first time?
