Hello-

Does anyone know about the plans in store for the Palms Rancho Park? The grassy field is fenced off and there are no signs or explanations posted. I inquired at the Palms Recreation Center and was given little if any information about the plans for the field. I know there were plans in the works and some blueprints were on display some time ago, but I think now would be a good time to make the plans transparent for the general public to view, since it is a public park for all to enjoy.

The Palms Rancho Park has been a special place for me since I moved here from Berkeley, CA 6 years ago. It is one of the few places a person can go and just sit on a bench and and look at the trees and not feel in the way of some activity or sports event. Why is there a need for yet another soccer field when there are already so many other Parks in the area with those already existing qualities.Forgive me if I am misinformed, I would really like to be informed, that is why I am here. Thanks for any insights or alternate opinions.

Hi Hilary,

I know that last fall they were planning on leveling the field but it looks as though that work is going to be done now.  Lots of the local parks have fields but not all offer soccer through Recs & Parks.  For example, Cheviot Hills has fields used for AYSO soccer, not Recs & Parks teams.  Palms Rancho Park has Recs & Parks teams but not AYSO or other city soccer organizations.  My sons played two years ago at Palms Rancho Park and we loved it.  It seems much more laid back than other non-city organizations and I would rather my kids enjoy the Recs & Parks programs than AYSO.  Once the field is leveled, we will likely sign them up to play again.

Hope that helps a little bit.
