The legal battle over our east/west rail line is heading up north. On May 7, the California Supreme Court will hear arguments in San Francisco in the case of Neighbors for Smart Rail v. Exposition Metro Construction Authority. At issue is whether the traffic studies used for the line's environmental documents are ok as is - they are based on future not current traffic conditions - or if they are inadequate, as NSFR contends. Streetsblog has an update, along with a history of the case. A ruling is not expected right away and, as anyone who lives near Exposition can attest, construction continues on the line for now.

Absolutely not, John. Your non sequitur only. Do not ascribe thoughts to others just because they occur in your mind. If they originate there, you own them. Intellectual violence is not acceptable either. Let's keep the argument to the original subject. These side trips advance nothing.
Your insinuation, Barney.Let's make that clear.
Your characterization, John. Let's make that clear. Shall we try and keep this discussion civil?
Who will be stepping off that train? I'm betting they will be Brown and swarthy and will do God knows what in those Apartments that they RENT.Oh the horrorrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Hi John, I understand that you are being sarcastic but am not sure that everyone will get that. Let's all remember that this is truly a community gathering place and try to keep the level of discourse neighborly... and nonviolent.
Thanks,
Orli
Yeah wow if only we had guns to defend us from these bike people.......
The traffic is already terrible on Overland for one thing. Then there's the Overland Av school right next to the tracks and the station a block away on Westwood. Who will be stepping off of that train? WIll the kids be endangered? The L A Metro is working hand in glove to bring massive apartment units along with the train. Casden WLA will have 638 units at Pico and Sepulveda where the old cement mixing facility is. Assume two people per unit on average that's over 1200 new renters with a completely different agenda than the local home owners. There is a requirement for a certain number of low income units. What does that do to our tax base and demand for services? They will demand bike lanes right up main street. The bike people already are. That will be more congestion. WLA is about to change into an urban environment. This is serious folks.
I'm not gonna hold my breath about this. It is too far along. The idea that a Supreme Ct. ruling in favor of those of us who would, at the minimum, prefer an elevated over the street crossing at Westwood Blvd., and also at Overland Avenue, is almost too much to bear, at this point. It would be nice, though!!!!!!!!
