Updating my earlier post to note that over 3500 customers in the Rancho Park, Cheviot Hills and Palms area are affected. Are you one of them?

Power Outage Affects Over 1000 Homes in Rancho Park/Cheviot Hills

Posted on May 6, 2013 at 7:00am 3 Comments

The DWP is estimating power will be restored by 3:00 pm for the more than 1000 Rancho Park and Cheviot Hills customers without power this am. Some residents described hearing a loud pop at 4:30 am followed by their power returning briefly before going out again. Does your home have power? Homes west of Westwood and south of Exposition are out.

Here is a link with more information from DWP.…

CA Supreme Court Set to Hear Neighbors for Smart Rail Lawsuit on May 7

Posted on April 9, 2013 at 9:31pm 8 Comments

The legal battle over our east/west rail line is heading up north. On May 7, the California Supreme Court will hear arguments in San Francisco in the case of Neighbors for Smart Rail v. Exposition Metro Construction Authority. At issue is  whether the traffic studies used for the line's environmental documents are ok as is - they are based on future not current traffic conditions - or if they are inadequate, as NSFR contends. …

Hi Orli,

A friend and I have a few 3-4 miles routes we walk regularly through the neighborhood, and there are always lots of friendly dogs to meet, and even many friendly dog walkers.  There are plenty of hills and lots of great lawns for the dogs to romp.  Since getting a dog, I walk through more of the neighborhoods than ever before, and have come to really appreicate even more the wonderful area in which we live.  Try it!!!!  If you're not ready to get a permanent dog, you might consider asking to walk an underwalked dog near by.  Unfortunately for both dog and owner, some people don't want or aren't physically up to walking their dogs, so both might really appreciate an offer...

I guess my profile pic does look a little more festive. In my other one, I was actually trying on glasses and wanted to send the wife my choices and get her opinion.

Thanks and nice to virtually meet you.  I'm sure we must have ran into each other before as I'm always at Palm's Park or Island's on Tuesdays with my two boys (ages 2 and 4).  Anyway - thanks for putting this together!

Dang...I only know about the Post Office @ Rancho Park Pharmacy.

Found your site by sheer luck: my neighbor and I have an ongoing argument as to what constitutes 'Rancho Park'. We live just down the street from the FOX lot...the 'Rancho Park' sign is posted well before Fox Hills Drive..and therefore I tell people that I live in Rancho Park.

Any 'official' definition on the  borders of Rancho Park? FYI: the lady at the post office (a federal employee) told me that if your zip code is 90064, you're in RP.

So is it more of a Westside thing (like the pavilion) Or a West Los Angeles thing?
