Profile Information

A little about me:
What is Rancho Park Online?

Every community deserves a voice.

With RanchoPark Online.com, residents, business people and others who care about this neighborhood have the ability to decide what's the news. It's a social network, like Facebook, but centered on Rancho Park. If you care about Rancho Park, you can join now.

How Does it Work?

As with other social networks, each member creates his or her own individual page. You can submit an event about authors visiting Children's Book World, rave about your favorite cocktail at Westside Tavern, post a video from one of those doggie agility courses in the park, or whatever information is near and dear to you in this great neighborhood of ours.

Content from those pages, as well as Rancho Park-related information from other blogs, news sites and community groups will be featured on the main RanchoPark Online.com page as well.

Think of it as an online hub for all things Rancho Park. Instead of having to go to individual sites to get information about Rancho Park, we are gathering it for you, and with you.

Why get Involved?

While you share, educate and inform, you will also learn: The MTA expects to have a light rail running along our stretch of Exposition Blvd by 2015; the Apple Pan has been serving it's classic burgers, sandwiches and pie for nearly 65 years; and you'll discover any number of other notable eccentricities that make this place where you live, work or play lovable and unique.

This process creates informed citizens, which is one step closer to active citizens.

Here in Rancho Park, our diverse voices have at least one thing in common - we care about our community. By forming a cooperative, our united voice is more accurate, more current and more representative than just one individual.

That's the power of community.

Welcome to Rancho Park Online. Welcome to Rancho Park.

Who Started Rancho Park Online?

RPO was begun by Orli Belman and Eddie North-Hager. We are two former journalists who met working in public relations. We share a vision for what a community-centered social network can be, a passion for civic engagement, a desire to see our respective neighborhoods thrive... and a sense of fun and adventure as we get to explore and expose people to our communities, both online and off. We welcome you on this journey with us.

Our new neighbor - Google

Westside Pavilion played roles in the 1995 film “Clueless” and the video for musician Tom Petty’s 1985 hit “Free Fallin’.”

A peek at one of the highlights of 2012, courtesy of our neighbor Minne Hong Ho. The Palms Farmers Market at Motor and National was welcomed with open arms from Culver City to Rancho Park when it opened in September. The farmers market is every Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm. The hours have been extended until…

Hello Rancho Park and beyond, Eddie North-Hager and Orli Belman created this social network, along with the residents of Rancho Park. But when it was created Eddie created it with his own profile. To maintain a semblance of a wall between what's best for Rancho Park Online and Eddie, another profile was created today on June 8, 2011. The Rancho Park Online profile will be used more for administration and Julie the Cruise director duties. Sorry for any confusion.

Hi, Eddie.

I moved here nine years ago.  I love the place.  Know all my neighbors and a bunch of other people on my block.  (Great folks.)  My husband and I walk to the book store, lamp fix-it guy, tailor, dry cleaner, pharmacy, hobbie shops, video rental, newsstand and the mall.  When we eat out, typically we walk to the neighborhood restaurants. It's like Mayberry RFD only on Pico Boulevard -- very oxymoronic... but in a GOOD way!  If only our neighborhood had a grocery store, it would be fully walkable, fully self-contained, fully old-timey.

Thanks for helping to get this blog up and running!
