Great Idea? Would beautify the area, plus curb crime. Any thoughts? Esther has them. On the south side.

Terry, I will look into starting a petition for the installation of street lights.

Growing up on Greenfield Ave, north of Olympic,1939 and on, there were always street lamps on both sides of the street. My neighbor,  THE Andy Williams, put BB gun holes in the lamp glass on the corner of Greenfield and Mississippi.  What's up with south  of Pico?  Better late than never. Progress is a GOOD THING.

Terry, please keep us posted on what you find out. Does an entire block need to sign on in order to install them?

We live on Greenfield without street lights and we want them. We did not realize when we bought the house that there we no lights and it gets really dark. We're looking into it and will let you know if we decide to move ahead. Is anyone else on Greenfield interested? Happy Holidays.

Hi Michael,

From what I understand, some streets were built with street lamps and some without. My street does not have them but the block next to me does. In order to add them now, it takes a petition that must be signed by most of residents of a street and each household would also be assessed for the lamps. For streets with street lights, there is an annual fee of about $70 per household. This link from the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting has lots of info. I'd love to hear if you go forward with a petition to get them on your street. Also, I am curious if any one knows whether crime rates are higher on non-lit streets.
